What is Unity?

Unity can be described as culturally Christian and spiritually open. We offer a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each person’s right to choose a spiritual path.

The birthplace of Unity

Unity began in the 1880s when founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore sought healing by changing their ideas about God and themselves. Charles Fillmore called Unity “practical Christianity” because Unity explores how to use Jesus’s teachings to learn about our higher selves and live our daily lives in a more peaceful, healthy and abundant way. Incidentally, the birthplace of Charles Fillmore is located in Sartell just blocks from the Mississippi River. With our community located in Central Minnesota, his vision comes full circle.
